Crispy, golden, hand-rolled Vietnamese spring rolls (chả giò) are a Phuong Nam Restaurant signature — fried fresh to order with a savoury filling of pork, wood-ear mushrooms, and vegetables wrapped in delicate rice paper.
We make our spring rolls the traditional way, with a filling of seasoned ground pork, wood-ear mushrooms, shredded carrot, jicama, glass noodles, and onion. Each roll is hand-folded tight and fried until the rice paper wrapper shatters with the first bite.
Serve them as an appetizer with lettuce, fresh herbs, and our sweet fish sauce (nước chấm) for dipping — or add them on top of any vermicelli bowl. Winnipeg customers consistently call ours the best in the city, with a 'meaty' filling and a wrapper that stays crispy from the first roll to the last.
